Jeremy Shaw
Towards Universal Pattern Recognition (The Yoga Thing. Sun-Times. April 13 1970)
About the Artwork
In his series Towards Universal Pattern Recognition, Jeremy Shaw presents reframed archival photographs of subjects experiencing various states of spiritual, hedonistic, or technological catharsis. Placed under custom-machined prismatic acrylic that has been uniquely designed to focus on one element of each photograph, the photos distort and repeat, skewing the documentary image and creatively alluding to the subject’s altered state of consciousness.
